A man had his bank card and mobile phone stolen when he was robbed in Hitchin Road.
The victim was walking along the road at 5am on Friday, December 21, when two or three men approached him from behind and hit him on the back of the head.
He fell to the floor and they kicked him before searching his pockets and taking his bank card and iPhone.
The victim was left with a bruised and swollen face.
PC Tim Worden, investigating, wants to trace anyone who saw the robbery or knows who was responsible.
He said: “This incident happened in a residential area and would have caused a significant amount of noise.
“I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or anyone who can help identify those responsible to come forward and help with this investigation.”
