Luton will share its council chief executive with two other authorities in the New Year.
The three-month arrangement will see Trevor Holden take two on local authorities in Norfolk – Breckland Council, where he was previously chief exec, and South Holland District Council.
The two councils currently share a chief exec, who will leave in January.
Luton council leader Hazel Simmons said: “All councils have to explore new avenues to generate revenue and make savings. We are keen to work with other councils to drive down cost.”
