A man charged with attempted robbery of a bookmakers appeared before Luton Magistrates Court yesterday (December 6).
Oliver Mason, 24, of Mattocke Road in Hitchin was charged in connection with an aggravated burglary of Ladbrokes in Hitchin Road, Luton on Wednesday.
He was allegedly armed with an axe or hatchet and tried to jump over the counter during the incident at 9.30am, but didn’t manage to take any money.
Staff at Ladbrokes recognised him as he is a regular customer, and he was arrested shortly afterwards.
After his court appearance he was remanded in custody and will appear before Luton Crown Court at a later date.
