A 19-year-old cyclist was stabbed and hit with a chair when he refused to hand his bike over to thugs in Luton on November 22.
The incident happened at 4.49pm as the victim was cycling in the Dumfries Street and Stanley Street area, having collected some fast food.
Five men approached the victim and asked him for his bike, and when he refused they hit him over the head with a chair and stabbed him several times.
They slashed the tyres on his bike but he was able to make his way home where he called the emergency services.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to seven cuts to his face and body.
Det Con Tom Hamm said: “At this time of day this is a busy area of the town and many people would have been leaving work for the day. This incident would have created a commotion as during his ordeal the victim was assaulted with a chair. I would appeal to anyone who saw the incident to come forward and help identify the men responsible.”
The offenders are described as two men, who were possibly Russian or Polish, and three black men. They were all dressed in black clothing.
