A takeaway owner was robbed at knifepoint while on his way to a bank at 1pm on Monday (November 26).

The victim was approached by two offenders as he stepped out of his parked car in Elizabeth Street in Luton.

The offenders forced him back into the vehicle, held a knife to his side and demanded he hand over cash, which he did.

The pair then got out of the vehicle and ran up Elizabeth Street, away from the town.

Det Con Rebecca Kitts said: “This was a terrifying attack on a man who was on his way to the bank to cash his weekend takings. The victim has been left very upset by the incident and I urge anyone who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

“I would really like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us. Please don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

The first offender, who was armed with the weapon, was a black male, around five feet eleven inches tall and wearing a brown fleeced jacket and sunglasses. The second offender was also a black male, around five feet nine inches tall and wearing a grey hooded top.

If you have any information or saw the offenders either before or after the incident, please call Det Con Kitts in confidence on 01582 394442, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
