A taxi driver was robbed and assaulted by two men in Downs Road in the early hours of Saturday (November 24).
The incident happened at around 4.30am in the car park at Hilltop Court in Luton after the taxi driver, 39, had collected two white males and one black male who was intoxicated and carried into the taxi, from outside a nightclub in Aylesbury.
Once at the Luton address, the two white males went into a property to get payment but returned with two other men.
A dispute over the fare ensued and the taxi driver was attacked by the two passengers with a knife and metal bar, causing him facial injuries and puncture wounds to both of his arms.
A large amount of money, two mobile phones and a PDA system were stolen before the offenders left with the two other men who were dragging the intoxicated passenger out of the car and along the road.
Members of the public contacted the police and the victim was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital for treatment.
The black male was located in a nearby stairwell and also taken to hospital.
Det Con Jo Bosson said: “This was an extremely brutal and violent assault on a man going about his daily business. He has been left with some very nasty injuries and extremely shaken up by the whole incident.
“We are currently looking at CCTV footage from Market Square in Aylesbury where the offenders were picked up and we are also continuing our enquiries in the Downs Road area. However, I urge anyone with any information relating to this attack to get in touch so that we can prevent these offenders from committing any further robberies.”
The two offenders are both white males, in their late teens or early 20s. One was wearing a black hooded top while the other wore a white or light cream coloured jacket.
